Production

Walsh was inspired to write the sitcom after hearing a true story about a man with two families who gave his kids the same name to avoid confusion or being sprung.{{Cite web|url=https://www.denofgeek.com/tv/the-other-ones-holly-walsh-secret-families-more-common-than-you-think/|title=The Other One's Holly Walsh: secret families 'more common than you think'|date=5 June 2020|website=Den of Geek}}
