During the Iceland Airwaves music festival, The Reykjavík Grapevine became a daily publication focusing on music for some years. From 2016 to 2019, The Reykjavík Grapevine published a special magazine{{Cite web|url=https://issuu.com/rvkgrapevine/docs/airwaves-online|title=Airwaves 2016 issue by Reykjavík Grapevine - Issuu|website=issuu.com}} to celebrate the Iceland Airwaves festival and started a quarterly city-guide sister publication, Best of Reykjavík. A thrice-annually Best of Iceland magazine followed. The magazine's relative longevity has positioned it uniquely as an English-language publication about Iceland and has sometimes made it a popular reference point in international news and media.{{Cite web|title=reykjavik grapevine -site:grapevine.is - Google Search|url=https://www.google.com/search?q=reykjavik+grapevine+-site:grapevine.is&tbm=nws&start=20|access-date=2021-04-12|website=www.google.com}} The magazine's Twitter coverage of the UEFA Euro 2016 football tournament became popular internationally.{{Cite magazine|url=https://time.com/4371015/iceland-twitter-euro-2016-reykjavik-grapevine-soccer-football/|title=Icelandic Magazine Hilariously Live-Tweets Euro 2016|magazine=Time}}{{Cite web|url=http://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/jun/15/iceland-portugal-reykjavik-grapevine-euro-2016-commentary|title='Iceland inflict crushing 1-1 defeat on Portugal' – the view from Reykjavik|date=June 15, 2016|website=the Guardian}}
