The Walshes is an Irish comedy television series that was first broadcast on RTÉ One on 6 March and BBC Four on 13 March 2014. The three-part series was written by Graham Linehan and the comedy group Diet of Worms, and is based on the group's 2010 web series The Taste of Home. The show follows the Walshes, a tight-knit family living in the fictional West Dublin suburb of Strollinstown. Diet of Worms portray the family, reprising their roles from the web series.{{cite news | url=http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2014-01-31/mackenzie-crook-to-play-metal-detector-enthusiast-in-one-of-four-new-bbc4-comedies | title=Mackenzie Crook to play metal detector enthusiast in one of four new BBC4 comedies | work=Radio Times | date=31 January 2014 | accessdate=1 February 2014 | author=Dowell, Ben}}{{cite news | url=http://www.televisual.com/news-detail/BBC4-orders-four-comedies_nid-3842.html | title=BBC4 orders four comedies | work=Televisual | date=31 January 2014 | accessdate=1 February 2014 | author=Considine, Pippa}}{{cite news | url=http://www.worldscreen.com/articles/display/2014-1-31-eur-bbcfour-comedy | title=New Comedies Coming to BBC Four | work=Worldscreen | date=31 January 2014 | accessdate=1 February 2014 | author=Brzoznowski, Kristin}}{{cite news | url=http://entertainment.ie/tv/news/Father-Ted-writers-new-series-The-Walshes-coming-soon/240192.htm | title=Father Ted writer's new series 'The Walshes' coming soon! | work=entertainment.ie | date=31 January 2014 | accessdate=1 February 2014 | author=Flynn, Fiona}}
