The mix of influences from traditional cartoonists such as Bill Watterson and horror artists like Mignola can be seen in much of Boatwright's art, which is sometimes described as "creepy but cute."[https://www.stitcher.com/show/strange-carolinas/episode/ep-v-thomas-boatwright-monster-illustrator-the-witches-keyhole-king-kong-and-barnyard-stompers-78410604/ Strange Carolinas Podcast, Episode 5], October 8, 2020.
