Thomas Lockley

Lockley teaches history and English. His research focuses on education and history, with a particular emphasis on Japanese history from an International perspective.

In 2016, he released a paper titled The Story of Yasuke: Nobunaga's African Retainer on the Nihon University's journal {{Nihongo|Ōmon Ronsō|桜文論叢}},{{Sfn|Lockley|2017|loc=Translator afternote}}{{Cite web |title=The Story of Yasuke: Nobunaga's African Retainer |url=https://researchmap.jp/7000004775/published_papers/18205512 |access-date=17 July 2024 |website=researchmap |language=ja}} and in 2017 he published his first work titled {{Nihongo|Nobunaga to Yasuke: Honnoji o ikinobita kokujinsamurai|信長と弥助 本能寺を生き延びた黒人侍}}. In 2019, he published African Samurai: The True Story of Yasuke, a Legendary Black Warrior in Feudal Japan in the United States together with Geoffrey Girard.
