Reception

The film received overwhelmingly negative reviews. In the TV Guide, the reviewer said that "the utterly disintegrated plot line gives one the feeling that the narrative merely went wherever sets became available, from a smoky biker bar to a mockup of the White House kitchen to a magnificent chalet platform in the mountains, suddenly invaded by commandos for a 007-style chase/gun battle on skis".{{cite web |title=Timemaster Reviews |url=https://www.tvguide.com/movies/timemaster/review/2030280762/ |website=TV Guide |access-date=25 December 2023 |archive-date=25 December 2023 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20231225024908/https://www.tvguide.com/movies/timemaster/review/2030280762/ |url-status=live }}

The film has been described as a "scrap-heap of pasted-together and semi-coherent genre clichés".{{Cite book |last=Barsanti |first=Chris |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=kA8ABQAAQBAJ&dq=%22Timemaster%22+film+-wikipedia+glickenhaus&pg=PT629 |title=The Sci-Fi Movie Guide: The Universe of Film from Alien to Zardoz |date=2014-09-22 |publisher=Visible Ink Press |isbn=978-1-57859-534-1 |language=en |access-date=2024-01-28 |archive-date=2024-01-28 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20240128011324/https://books.google.com/books?id=kA8ABQAAQBAJ&dq=%22Timemaster%22+film+-wikipedia+glickenhaus&pg=PT629#v=onepage&q=%22Timemaster%22%20film%20-wikipedia%20glickenhaus&f=false |url-status=live }}

A short review on the German site TV Today stated however, "The time jumps are a bit confusing, but the 'family production' (author and director Glickenhaus filmed with his own children) has a lot of charm and is as dazzling as a comic."{{Cite web |title=Timemaster – Aus der Zukunft zurück: Trailer & Kritik zum Film |url=https://www.tvtoday.de/entertainment/kino/timemaster-aus-der-zukunft-zurueck_1315716.html |access-date=2023-12-25 |website=TV Today |language=de |archive-date=2023-12-25 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20231225111855/https://www.tvtoday.de/entertainment/kino/timemaster-aus-der-zukunft-zurueck_1315716.html |url-status=live }}
