Timothy Gay Jr. represented Dedham, Massachusetts, in the Great and General Court.{{sfn|Worthington|1827|pp=106-107}}

He was also the Norfolk County jailkeeper when Jason Fairbanks escaped.{{Sfn|Hanson|1976|p=188}} He was acquitted of any wrongdoing, but was turned out of office.{{Sfn|Hanson|1976|p=188}}
