Tofu Street ({{zh|s=豆腐街}}) is a 1996 Singaporean Chinese-language drama series.
Overview
Set in the late 1940s to the 1970s, the drama revolved around the lives of a group of tenants with diverse backgrounds staying in a big house located in Tofu Street. Experience the struggles of the inhabitants of a poor rural village in China who subsequently settle down in Tofu Street. The name Tofu Street was based on the now-defunct road of what was now Upper Chin Chew Street, used to be located at the present site of Hock Hai Building between Upper Pickering Street and Upper Cross Street. There used to be a number of beancurd stalls in the area from 1930s to the 1940s, giving the street its name. It was also famous as the dwelling area of the Samsui women. It won the first Star Awards for Best Drama Serial at the Star Awards, an annual awards given by Mediacorp.
