In February 2023, Republican House Leadership informed Mehaffie that he would no longer have an office within the House. This action follows Mehaffie's reluctance to sign a letter needed for a parliamentary maneuver to bring the House to a voting session, a move that required support from all 101 Republicans.{{cite web |last1=Murphy |first1=Jan |title=Pa. lawmaker loses Capitol office, sees it as punishment for role as caucus maverick |url=https://www.pennlive.com/politics/2023/02/pa-lawmaker-loses-capitol-office-sees-it-as-punishment-for-role-as-caucus-maverick.html |website=PennLive.com |access-date=15 February 2023 |date=9 February 2023}}{{cite web |last1=Murphy |first1=Jan |title=Pa. lawmaker loses Capitol office, sees it as punishment for role as caucus maverick |url=https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/pa-lawmaker-loses-capitol-office-sees-it-as-punishment-for-role-as-caucus-maverick/ar-AA17j9eg |website=MSN |access-date=15 February 2023 |date=9 February 2023}}
