"Tonight Again" appears as the final track on the European edition of Sebastian's eighth studio album, Madness (2014).

Background and composition

At a press conference held at the Sydney Opera House on 5 March 2015, it was announced that the Australian public broadcaster, Special Broadcasting Service (SBS), had internally selected Guy Sebastian to represent Australia at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest.{{cite news|title=Eurovision Song Contest invites Australia to join 'world's biggest party'|url=https://www.theguardian.com/media/2015/feb/10/eurovision-song-contest-invites-australia-to-join-worlds-biggest-party|access-date=10 February 2015|work=The Guardian|date=10 February 2015}}{{cite web|last1=Granger|first1=Anthony|title=Greece select, Australia announces|url=http://eurovoix.com/2015/03/04/tonight-greece-selects-australia-announces/|website=eurovoix.com|publisher=Eurovoix|access-date=4 March 2015|date=4 March 2015}}{{cite web|last1=Jiandani|first1=Sanjay|title=Australia: Guy Sebastian will fly to Vienna!|url=http://esctoday.com/96982/australia-will-fly-vienna/|website=esctoday.com|publisher=ESCToday|access-date=5 March 2015|date=4 March 2015}} On 16 March, Sebastian's song for the Eurovision Song Contest was officially revealed online by SBS through the release of a music video for "Tonight Again".{{cite web|title=Hear it first: Australia's Eurovision song|date=16 March 2015|url=http://www.sbs.com.au/programs/eurovision/news/australias-eurovision-song|publisher=sbs.com.au|access-date=16 March 2015}}

The song was written within a week by Sebastian, specifically for the Eurovision Song Contest. He collaborated with fellow songwriters David Ryan Harris and Louis Schoorl whom he had worked previously on other projects. On the choice of the song, Sebastian said, "When it came time to decide on a song, I thought since I had a couple of days off in Australia, I would try and write something new. But if I was to record a new song, I wanted it to be homegrown and organic with my band in my studio. Truly, we jumped in the studio and let it happen because I wanted to write something fun! We all have moments you don't want to end and you wish you could live those moments every day so I wanted to write a song about that feeling. I am sure that is how I am going to feel when I am in Vienna performing."{{cite web|title=Guy Sebastian releases the song he'll sing at Eurovision|url=http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/music/guy-sebastian-releases-the-song-hell-sing-at-eurovision/story-e6frfn09-1227265253047|publisher=news.com.au|access-date=16 March 2015}}
