Touraj Atabaki ({{langx|fa|تورج اتابکی}}, born February 23, 1950) is Emeritus Professor by special appointment of Social History of the Middle East and Central Asia at the Leiden University.{{cite web |title=Turaj Atabaki |url=https://www.universiteitleiden.nl/en/staffmembers/turaj-atabaki/ |website=Leiden University |accessdate=17 February 2020}} He was the Senior Research Fellow at the International Institute of Social History in Amsterdam.{{citation|url=http://www.encyclopedia.com/article-1G2-2284600019/atabaki-touraj-1950.html|title=Atabaki, Touraj 1950-|work=Contemporary Authors|accessdate=2017-11-02}} He also held the chair of the Social History of the Middle East and Central Asia at the School of Middle East Studies of Leiden University,{{citation|url=http://hoogleraren.leidenuniv.nl/id/3364|title=Touraj Atabaki|work=Leidse hoogleraren vanaf 1575|publisher=Leiden University|accessdate=2017-11-07}} and is past president of the Association for Iranian Studies{{citation|url=http://associationforiranianstudies.org/about/officers/2017|title=2017 Officers|publisher=Association for Iranian Studies|accessdate=2017-11-07}} and the European Society for Central Asian Studies.

Atabaki earned his doctorate from Utrecht University in 1991 with a dissertation titled Ethnicity and autonomy in Iranian Azarbayjan: the autonomous government of Azarbayjan 1946.
