History

Tripwire was co-founded by John Gibson and Alan Wilson with support by members of the international team that created Unreal Tournament 2004 mod Red Orchestra: Combined Arms. Red Orchestra won top prize in the Nvidia-sponsored Make Something Unreal competition.[http://www.unrealtournament2003.com/ut2003/ct_phase2/ct_fps.html Make Something Unreal: Best FPS Mod] {{Webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20090622101545/http://www.unrealtournament2003.com/ut2003/ct_phase2/ct_fps.html |date=June 22, 2009 }} Their first retail product, Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45, was released over Valve's Steam service on March 14, 2006.

Tripwire's second game, Killing Floor, was released on May 14, 2009. Like Red Orchestra, this game also began development as a mod for Unreal Tournament 2004, later becoming a standalone retail title.{{Cite web |url=http://news.filefront.com/gt-qa-tripwires-killing-floor/ |title=GT Q&A: Tripwire's Killing Floor |access-date=December 16, 2009 |archive-date=May 11, 2009 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20090511195411/http://news.filefront.com/gt-qa-tripwires-killing-floor/ |url-status=live }} Tripwire released and published their third game on September 13, 2011 titled Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad{{cite web |title=Release Date delayed |url=http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showthread.php?p=787929 |work=Official forums |accessdate=August 8, 2011 |archive-date=March 7, 2016 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160307045435/http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showthread.php?p=787929 |url-status=dead }}, which is the sequel to their debut World War II-themed Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45 first-person shooter.
