The Turing Baronetcy, of Foveran in the County of Aberdeen, is a title in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia.Kidd, Charles, Williamson, David (editors). Debrett's Peerage and Baronetage (1990 edition). New York: St Martin's Press, 1990., {{Page needed |date=February 2013}} It was created in 1638 for John Turing, who was granted the baronetcy of Foveran in Aberdeenshire by the King. He was a supporter of King Charles I and was taken prisoner by the Covenanters in 1639. In 1651, he fought at the Battle of Worcester. The Turing family descends from Sir William Turing, a supporter of David II (1329–1371).
The cryptographer and computing pioneer Alan Turing was the uncle of the twelfth Baronet.Burke's Peerage, Baronetage and Knightage, 2003, vol. 3, p. 3957{{cite web| url=http://blog.lboro.ac.uk/sbe/2016/10/05/an-interview-with-dermot-turing-alan-turings-nephew/ | title=An interview with Dermot Turing: Alan Turing's nephew | publisher=Loughborough University | location=UK | date=5 October 2016 }}
