The Twello train accident was a railway accident on 22 December 1900 at 21:00 in front of the Twello railway station, Twello, in the Netherlands.{{Cite web |url=http://nationaalbrandweerdocumentatiecentrum.nl/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Grootschalige-ongevallen-in-Nederland.pdf |title=Archived copy |access-date=2016-11-24 |archive-date=2016-11-24 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20161124224249/http://nationaalbrandweerdocumentatiecentrum.nl/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Grootschalige-ongevallen-in-Nederland.pdf |url-status=dead }} The express train from Amsterdam (Sneltrein 238; pulled by an NS 1600) collided head-to-head with a regional train (Stoptrein 927; pulled by an NS 1600) from Almelo to Apeldoorn. Normally these trains pass each other at Bathmen, but due to a delay of the express train, the crossing was changed to Twello. The crash happened because the person who takes care of the railroad switch failed to set a switch, allowing two trains on the same track. The express train then collided with the stationary regional train.{{cite web| url=https://krantenbankzeeland.nl/issue/gco/1900-12-25/edition/0/page/2| date = 25 December 1900| title = no title | publisher = Goessche Courant |page=2| language = nl}}{{cite web| url=http://nha.courant.nu/issue/HD/1900-12-25/edition/0/page/2?query=Concert%20O.l.v.&sort=issuedate%20ascending| date = 25 December 1900| title = no title | publisher = Haarlem's Dagblad |page=2| language = nl}}{{cite web| date = 30 December 1900| title = no title| publisher = De Rijnbode | language = nl}}{{cite web| url=https://kranten.archiefalkmaar.nl/issue/VB/1900-12-29/edition/0/page/1?query=| date = 29 December 1900| title = Het spoorwegongeluk bij Twello | publisher = Vliegend blaadje : nieuws- en advertentiebode voor Den Helder |page=1| language = nl}} Two men from Deventer died.
