The building is managed by Athena Properties Limited. It opened on 14 February 2017 to the public, with Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta cutting the ribbon to symbolise the official opening of the mall on 17 February 2017. Its key shareholding was acquired by Chinese investors with the aim of tapping into Nairobi's growing international status as an aviation hub and a center for commercial enterprise.{{Cite web |title=Chinese-backed real estate investment launched in Kenya – Xinhua {{!}} English.news.cn |url=http://www.xinhuanet.com//english/2017-02/18/c_136066567.htm |access-date=2023-01-08 |agency=Xinhua News Agency}}{{Cite web |last=Muiruri |first=Peter |title=Construction work at Two Rivers over in two weeks |url=https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/lifestyle/article/2000207765/construction-work-at-two-rivers-over-in-two-weeks |access-date=2023-01-08 |website=The Standard |language=en}} In 2022, the mall unveiled the largest cinema screen in East and Central Africa.{{Cite web |date=2022-11-13 |title=Two Rivers Mall Unveils the Largest Screen in the region |url=https://www.capitalfm.co.ke/news/2022/11/two-rivers-mall-unveils-the-largest-screen-in-the-region/ |access-date=2023-06-17 |website=Capital News |language=en-US}} It also opened a ferris wheel in 2019 dubbed "The Eye of Kenya" which stands at 60 metres, making it the largest ferris wheel in Africa.{{Cite web |last=Ndaiga |first=Hellen |date=2022-03-02 |title=Two Rivers Mall Ferris Wheel |url=https://www.constructionkenya.com/6864/two-rivers-mall-ferris-wheel/ |access-date=2023-06-17 |website=CK |language=en-US}}
