{{Short description|Football tournament group stage}}

Group B of UEFA Euro 2012 began on 9 June 2012 and ended on 17 June 2012. The pool was made up of the Netherlands, Denmark, Germany and Portugal. Germany and Portugal progressed to the quarter-finals, while Denmark and the Netherlands were eliminated from the tournament.

Group B was dubbed by many the "group of death" of Euro 2012.{{cite web|url=https://www.espn.com/sports/soccer/news/_/id/7306118/euro-2012-group-group-breakdown-predictions-which-teams-go-ravi-ubha|title=Euro 2012 group-by-group breakdown|last=Ubha|first=Ravi|date=2 December 2011|publisher=ESPN|access-date=3 December 2011}}{{cite web|url=https://www.espn.com/sports/soccer/news/_/id/7303709/euro-2012-storylines-follow-poland-ukraine-james-tyler|title=The real attractions of Euro 2012|last=James|first=Tyler|date=2 December 2011|publisher=ESPN|access-date=3 December 2011}}{{cite web|url=https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/united/euro-2012-draw-germany-netherlands-portugal-denmark-land-in-group-of-death/2011/12/02/gIQARWLrLO_gallery.html#photo=1|title=Euro 2012 Draw: Germany, Netherlands, Portugal, Denmark land in “Group of Death”|work=The Washington Post|access-date=3 December 2011}}{{cite web|url=http://www.livesoccertv.com/news/4747/uefa-euro-2012-group-of-death-germany-with-portugal-holland-who-ll-be-doomed/|title=UEFA Euro 2012 Group of Death: Germany with Portugal & Holland. In the second round, when Portugal played Denmark, Portugal went ahead 2–0 with a 24th-minute goal from Pepe and a 36th-minute goal from Hélder Postiga, but with two goals from Nicklas Bendtner (41st and 80th minute), Denmark equalized. Striker Mario Gómez scored twice in the first half (24th and 38th minute) to put the Germans ahead 2–0, and despite a 73rd-minute goal from Robin van Persie, Germany won 2–1.{{cite web|url=https://www.sbnation.com/soccer/2012/6/13/3083575/germany-vs-netherlands-final-score-match-report-recap-euro-2012|title=Netherlands vs Germany, Euro 2012: final score|last=McCauley|first=Kevin|date=13 June 2012|publisher=SB Nation|access-date=18 June 2012}}

Leading into the third round, all four teams were still able to qualify and no team was already qualified, despite the fact that Germany had 6 points and Netherlands had 0 points. Ultimately, Germany defeated Denmark 2–1 after Lukas Podolski and Lars Bender scored for Germany in the 19th and 80th minutes, respectively, despite an equalizer from Michael Krohn-Dehli in the 24th minute.{{cite web|url=https://www.sbnation.com/soccer/2012/6/17/3093372/germany-vs-denmark-final-score-match-report-recap-euro-2012|title=Denmark vs Germany, Euro 2012: final score|last=McCauley|first=Kevin|date=17 June 2012|publisher=SB Nation|access-date=18 June 2012}} In the other match (played simultaneously in order to prevent the teams from gaining a strategic advantage by knowing the result of the other match on the same day) between Portugal and Netherlands, Rafael van der Vaart scored to give the Netherlands a lead for the first time in the entire tournament, but after much criticism in the media for his failure to score in the first two matches,{{cite news |title=Euro 2012: Nani springs to Cristiano Ronaldo's defence after criticism |first=Stuart |last=James |url=https://www.theguardian.com/football/2012/jun/15/euro-2012-nani-cristiano-ronaldo?newsfeed=true |newspaper=The Guardian |date=15 June 2012 |access-date=21 June 2012}}{{cite news |title=Cristiano Ronaldo under mounting pressure to perform for Portugal at Euro 2012 |first=Martin |last=Rogers |url=https://sports.yahoo.com/news/cristiano-ronaldo-under-mounting-pressure-to-perform-for-portugal-at-euro-2012.html |publisher=Yahoo Sports |date=12 June 2012 |access-date=21 June 2012}} Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice to secure a 2–1 victory for Portugal.{{cite web|url=http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/06/17/portugal-netherlands-euro-2012-cristiano-ronaldo_n_1604271.html|title=Portugal beats Netherlands 2–1 at Euro 2012|last=Hatton|first=Barry|date=17 June 2012|work=Huffington Post|access-date=18 June 2012}} With these results, Germany and Portugal qualified, in first and second place, respectively, and Denmark and Netherlands were eliminated.
