Background
The event was headlined by the anticipated rematch between mixed martial arts legends Maurício Rua and Dan Henderson. Henderson won their first encounter back in November 2011 at UFC 139 via unanimous decision in a bout lauded by many MMA pundits as the Fight of the Year for 2011 and one of the best bouts in the history of the UFC.{{cite web |url=https://sports.yahoo.com/mma/blog/cagewriter/post/UFC-139-all-timer-Henderson-wins-25-minute-clas?urn=mma-wp9754|title=UFC all-timer: Henderson wins 25-minute classic against Rua at UFC 139|publisher=yahoo.com |date=November 19, 2011 |access-date=November 20, 2011}}{{cite web |url=http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/sports_blog/2011/11/ufc-139-dana-white-says-henderson-vs-rua-one-of-best-fights-ever.html|title=Dana White on UFC 139: Henderson vs. Rua one of best fights ever|work=Los Angeles Times |date=November 19, 2011 |access-date=November 20, 2011}}
