UGC 8837 (also known as Holmberg IV) is a dwarf galaxy located in the constellation of Ursa Major, 24 million light years away from Earth. It is a member of the M101 Group, a group containing several galaxies orbiting the largest, the Pinwheel Galaxy (M101). {{Cite web|url=http://www.messier.seds.org/more/m101gr.html|title=The M101 group of galaxies|website=www.messier.seds.org|access-date=2020-04-26}}

It is possible UGC 8837 is one of the galaxies that interacted with the Pinwheel Galaxy and, together with NGC 5474 and NGC 5477, initiated a burst of star formation. {{Cite book|last1=Stoyan|first1=Ronald|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=x2VuBAAAQBAJ&q=ugc+8837&pg=PT1101|title=Atlas of the Messier Objects: Highlights of the Deep Sky|last2=Binnewies|first2=Stefan|last3=Friedrich|first3=Susanne|date=2008-10-27|publisher=Cambridge University Press|isbn=978-1-139-47311-8|language=en}}
