Union of Working Youth ({{langx|hu|Dolgozó Ifjúság Szövetsége}}, DISZ) was a mass youth organization in Hungary. All Hungarian youth between 14 and 26 years were allowed to become members. As of 1956, DISZ had 14 000 local organizations and a total membership of around 800 000. During its existence, DISZ oversaw the pioneer movement in Hungary.{{Cite web |url=http://www.osa.ceu.hu/files/holdings/300/8/3/text_da/30-2-225.shtml |title = Youth Organizations in Hungary |archive-url=https://archive.today/20070420032558/http://www.osa.ceu.hu/files/holdings/300/8/3/text_da/30-2-225.shtml |archive-date=20 April 2007 |url-status=dead}}

Within DISZ oppositional tendencies emerged. DISZ set up the 'Petőfi Circle', which became a centre of dissidence against the Hungarian government.McDougall, Alan. After the dissolution of DISZ, the Hungarian Young Communist League (KISZ) was set up. Unlike DISZ, KISZ was a cadre organization.{{cite web|url=http://www.osaarchivum.org/files/holdings/300/8/3/text_da/30-2-93.shtml |title=The Hungarian Communist Youth Association (KISZ) |accessdate=December 2, 2008 |url-status=dead |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20110717200645/http://www.osaarchivum.org/files/holdings/300/8/3/text_da/30-2-93.shtml |archivedate=July 17, 2011 }}
