Unionport is a small unincorporated community in Jefferson County, Ohio.{{GNIS|1062586}} It is best known as the birthplace of millionaire, Helen Brach, who was the center of media attention in 1977, when she disappeared.{{cite web|url=http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/b/brach_helen.html |title=Helen Marie Voorhees Brach |publisher=The Charley Project |access-date=2015-09-18}} Unionport is located on the banks of the Cross Creek, a large tributary of the Ohio River approximately 20 miles east.
Unionport was platted in 1852.{{cite book|last=Doyle|first=Joseph Beatty|title=20th Century History of Steubenville and Jefferson County, Ohio and Representative Citizens|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=k9oyAQAAMAAJ&pg=PA514|year=1910|publisher=Richmond-Arnold Publishing Company|page=514}} A post office called Unionport was established in 1855, and remained in operation until 2002.
