Unitel Cochabamba is the Red Uno owned-and-operated station for the city of Cochabamba. The station operates on VHF channel 13 (digital channel 43, PSIP 13.1).
History
The concept behind channel 13 in Cochabamba dates back to 1982 or 1983, with the project being backed by figures from the political left. As a channel needed resources, the initial staff of the station found themselves indebted. Jaime Iriarte Angulo, owner of a newspaper, bought the station from its initial owners and turned it into an apolitical outlet. The licensee was Cochabamba Televisora Iriarte.{{cite web |url=http://unitel.tv/Red/estaciones.asp |access-date=3 October 2024 |website=Unitel |date=2002 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20021027112520/http://unitel.tv/Red/estaciones.asp |archive-date=27 October 2002 |title=Estaciones Afiliadas a la Red Unitel }} The station was instrumental in the construction of the Cristo de la Concordia statue between 1987 and 1994.[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwUzD5s6SPY Semblanza de Jaime Iriarte Angulo] By the early 2000s, the station was owned by Comunicadores Bolivianos Asociados.{{cite web |url=https://www.google.pt/books/edition/Directorio_Rual_2001_2002/ |title=Directorio Rural 2001/2002 |publisher=Plural Editores (Bolivia)|year=2001 |language=es}}
