{{about||other rivers|River Clydach (disambiguation)}}
{{Use dmy dates|date=April 2022}}
The Upper Clydach River runs from a poorly drained area south of Cwmgors and flows south and southeast through Cwm Gors for about 7 km to join the River Tawe at Pontardawe - {{coord|51.71775|N|3.84873|W|type:landmark_region:GB|display=inline}}. Each of the rivers bearing the name 'Clydach' in South Wales is thought to derive from an earlier Celtic word 'klou' or 'kleu' together with the suffix '-ach' which is of Irish origin. The sense is of a 'strong-flowing', 'washing' or stony river.{{cite book|last1=Owenn|first1=Hywel Wyn|last2=Morgan|first2=Richard|title=Dictionary of the Place-names of Wales|date=2007|publisher=Gomer Press|location=Llandyssul, Ceredigion|isbn=9781843239017|page=90|edition=first}}
