This IPv4 address, 127.0.0.1, along with the IPv6 address 0:0:0:0:0:0:0:1 (which redirects here), are registered to localhost, the loopback address from the local computer. All edits attributed to this IP (besides those resulting from a server misconfiguration in 2013 and another one in 2015) have been made by one of Wikimedia's system administrators.A configuration change in 2017 (phab:T154698) should prevent further unregistered edits from this address; however, configuration errors can still result in it being used by normal registered users. Several have occurred since 2017.
