The geology of Vesta encompasses the geological characteristics and history of the giant asteroid Vesta.
Early research into Vesta's geology were primarily conducted telescopically. Geological studies of Vesta advanced dramatically as the Dawn performed the first up-close observations of the asteroid. The spacecraft, which orbited Vesta from 16 July 2011 to 5 September 2012, provided data on Vesta's origins, evolution, interior structure, surface features, and mineralogy.
