Wasp Factory Recordings is a Cheltenham-based record label. It was formed in 1999 by Lee Chaos of The Chaos Engine. {{cite web

}} In 2003, the label was rewarded for its hard work by receiving the Young Music Professionals Award http://www.mpeg3.org/news/mp3/mp3_777.php.
Origins
Disillusioned with the trials and tribulations of dealing with established record labels, Lee Chaos set up the label, originally to house The Chaos Engine's releases.
The first release was The Chaos Engine's second album Obstinate.
The name of the label was drawn from the debut novel by Iain Banks, who gave full approval for the use of the name. [http://www.wasp-factory.com/waspfactory/about.htm Wasp Factory Recordings official website]
Expansion
It soon became clear that other bands could benefit from the safe home that the label provided for truly alternative music. Many bands have come and gone, including Goteki, DeathBoy, Skinflowers, Tarantella Serpentine, Earth Loop Recall, Arkam Asylum, Psychophile, Xykogen, and, of course, The Chaos Engine themselves.
Many of the Wasp Factory Recordings artists are now signed to Line Out Records.
