If i understand you correctly, you would like to have my pre-vote so the picture with a larger chance of success is nominated, right? The two pics are a tough choice. 1 is a better pose, but a bit dark/shadow. 2 has one bright wing, but a not so good pose (you should train your butterflies better :) I would give a weak support to 1 and a weak oppose to 2. -- Chris 73 Talk 09:17, Feb 16, 2005 (UTC)

Yes, weak support for #1. +sj +

:Yes, its a tricky choice. 2) is more eye catching, but has quite a few technical problems (focus on the wing, pose of the head, and fringing on the background twigs). 1) is probably the better choice, with the better pose and clean separation from the background, however overall its possibly too drab to make it as a featured picture. Blue Dragonfly

A really big series this time, I tried to make sure at least 1 photo was good enough to be a FP, but I couldn't decide.

: #2, definitely. Many other good ones, but that one is great: all four wings and legs in focus, nice overall composition. +sj + 05:16, 27 Feb 2005 (UTC)

:Yes, good series. I like #1, #2, and #6 the most. Slight preference for #1, but #2 is also great. Would support either one. -- Chris 73 Talk 03:35, Feb 28, 2005 (UTC)

Sprinkler

Although they aren't special sprinklers in that they are your common or garden type, but I think the lighting on the water droplets looks pretty cool

It would be quite nice to get a rainbow effect in one of these. I wrote a section in the rainbow article on the problems of photographing the complete width of a rainbow, even when they are apparently small, such as in the spray from a sprinkler (it needs an exceptionally wide angle lens). -- Solipsist 09:12, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Garden Orb Weaver

Found this guy/girl near on a blackberry bush. It was busy wrapping up its catch of a bee (its web was infront of the flowers of the blackberry) so I was able to take some (heaps actually) shots of it. Hope you like one.

  • Well as usual they are nicely focused a separated from the background with some good DoF. However, I we already have an FP of a Garden orb weaver, so we may be over-doing the spiders a bit (although from the banded abdomen, this one doesn't look like the same species - perhaps its a male/female difference). However, if you can 'spin' it as an example of predation, #9 might be in with a shot. -- Solipsist 13:53, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I personally favor number 10

--Fir0002 05:58, 11 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Number 15 is my favorite; it is actually the only one I think is really good. +sj + 03:50, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I like 5, 10, 13. Berries are large, and you have the contrast between ripe and not ripe. Favorite probably 5. --brian0918 03:07, 13 Apr 2005 (UTC)
