I had been using Wikipedia and following the news stories about it for quite a while. I looked up information that I could use in my science teaching. Since then, I have often taken information to use in class. Slowly I began editing various articles. I have begun to appreciate wikipeida as more than a tool for information, and more about how to generate knowledge. That was in February 2006.
Check out spoken wiki recording project [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Spoken_Wikipedia/Recording_guidelines| here]
Pages that I have started or made substantial contribution to are:
- Trends in religion in New Zealand
- History of Education in New Zealand
- Futuna Chapel
- Refugee migration into New Zealand
- Immigration to New Zealand
- Referendums in New Zealand
- New Zealand Ministry of Social Development
- Maori architecture
- World Organisation of Building Officials

How cool is that?
I respect the goals of the project, and so I support Wikipedia philosophies and policies, particularly WP:AGF, WP:CIVIL, WP:3RR and WP:VAND, to the hilt. For my favourite policy, see WP:BEANS.
