For the questions here, I recommend answering them on our blog as well.

Assignment 1: When you search for information, do you prefer to use AI or Wikipedia? Why?

Assignment 2: Should AI be used to create Wikipedia articles? Read https://slate.com/technology/2023/01/chatgpt-wikipedia-articles.html and https://www.vice.com/en/article/v7bdba/ai-is-tearing-wikipedia-apart and let me know your thoughts

Bonus points: ask the same question to AI and compare your answers (you can do this for all subsequent questions in this module)

Assignment 3: What is Wikipedia community doing about AIs? Read Artificial intelligence in Wikimedia projects, Wikipedia:Artificial intelligence and Wikipedia:WikiProject AI Cleanup, and let me know what is interesting/surprising

Assignment 4. Use ChatGPT (or another AI tool you like) to generate a Wikipedia article on the same topic as your Wikipedia project (or another topic you find interesting). Compare them. How good of a job is AI doing?

Assignment 5: Read this article and use the tool described there (STORM) to generate a Wikipedia article. Is it better than ChatGPT?

Assignment 6: Ask AI how you can use it to help Wikipedia. Then consider the practicality of the answers. Can you use one or more of the suggestions AI offers? If so, try to do it and demonstrate it in class together with your answer.

Assignment 7: Can you use AI to generate an image that could be used to illustrate a Wikipedia article? See our media activity module (Assignment 5) for a list of articles that need images. Upload your image, making sure it is clearly described as work of an AI; including the prompt you used in the image description, then add it to an article that needs an image (do not add it to an article that has plenty of images).

Assignment 8: Read this article and talk about ethical issues in AI using Wikipedia, and the danger it poses to the project. Why should an average person care about these issues?
