BR-471

BR-471 is a Brazilian federal highway located in the extreme south of the country. It begins in Soledade, passes through the city of Pelotas http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pelotas, and ends in Chui http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chu%C3%AD, which is the southernmost brazilian city. Between the city of Canguçu http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cangu%C3%A7u and the Quinta district of Rio Grande city, it shares its path alongside with the BR-392 highway http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/BR-392 through 127 km (79 mi). It presents quite different road conditions, from completely precarious to excellent conservation state. The sections comprised between Santa Cruz do Sul http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Cruz_do_Sul and Pântano Grande http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantano_Grande and between Canguçu http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cangu%C3%A7u and Quinta present excellent pavement quality, since these sections are under private administration. Even though the range comprised between Quinta and Chui is under DNIT administration http://www.dnit.gov.br(brazilian department of transportation ifra-structurehttp://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dnit), the pavement contiditon in this stretch is also satisfactory.
