Pits n Pots is an independent news site which focusses on the Stoke-on-Trent political scene. The site promotes and actively encourages comment and debate on the political stories it publishes. Several Stoke-on-Trent councillors contribute to the site with comments or by having their 'blogs' republished to the site.
Although not classed as traditional media, the site has featured on BBC News | Technology, [http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8303381.stm The fight for a right to report] BBC has been mentioned in Hansard [http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm200910/cmhansrd/cm100113/halltext/100113h0007.htm Hansard] 13 Jan 2010 and at the The future for local and regional media sub committee [http://www.parliamentlive.tv/Main/Player.aspx?meetingId=5319 The future for local and regional media] Tuesday 8 December at 11.40am. The site founder Tony Walley has spoken on BBC Breakfast News & Radio France about the site and what is commonly termed Hyperlocal publishing.
Pits n Pots ran the story about the BNP using a Polish Spitfire [http://pitsnpots.co.uk/2009/02/they%E2%80%99re-taking-our-spitfires-contributed-article They’re taking our Spitfires!] Pits n Pots on their posters some 5 days before the national press picked it up.
