Zubworld is a social networking site that connects places, people and common interests. It provides the ‘missing link’ between location and people within social media, allowing you to own your favourite ‘real world’ places, build communities around them and become a virtual property tycoon.
The website offers the functionality for people to network, socialise and share news, whilst building communities around their favourite ‘real world’ places. Registered users (Zubbers) can write their own news stories about anything they wish, be it the school their children attend, the forthcoming town carnival, or the best local place for a pint of beer.
Each place (Zub) costs $5.00 (US) and premium locations, such as New York, start at $50.00 via PayPal TechCrunch Stepehen O'Hear: . New locations and places will be released as the site population increases, which will include famous landmarks, rivers, and even the ability to plot your own places on the Google Map.
The site has a gaming element too. Zubbers are awarded with status trophies and icons, increasing in credibility and stature with the more Zubs purchased and the amount of people you have following your place.
Zubworld utilises Facebook and Twitter integration and is set to fully launch in May 2010.
