Jay McCreary Jay is a notable basketball player and coach from Indiana. He attended Frankfort, IN High School and while there was the captain of the 1936 Indiana State High School Basketball championship Team. Jay attended Indiana University and played basketball there. In 1940 he played on the Hoosier basketball squad, which won the National Championship. Jay was named an All-American in 1940. He graduated in 1942.
He also coached at
Jefferson Barracks, MO.
Vincennes (Inidana) High School
Depauw University
he coached the Indiana all-star team in 1951
Muncie Central high school.
While at Muncie High school they won a state championship.
Jay also coached at Louisiana State University from 1957 until 1965 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LSU_Tigers_basketball).
Jay is notable as the prototype of the coach of the larger school that Hickory defeats in the movie "Hoosiers"
Jay is a member of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.
