Astrophysics has become better-known as an important and notable science due to the efforts of educators such as prominent professors Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, Carl Sagan, Hubert Reeves, Stephen Hawking and Neil deGrasse Tyson.
{{cn|date=May 2015}} – dated May 2015 with a note: {{gi|the first part of the statement needs citation support; "become better known" compared to what? or, since when?; and need a source for how the science educators have played such a particular role}}
Section about notables
The section about notable astrophysicists is in need of change and expansion as noted in past discussions. While I could just make the following edits, I would prefer to first propose them here as follows:
----
The two separate sciences of astronomy and physics first began to combine together as a single discipline due to the work of Tycho Brahe, Galileo and Johannes Kepler. Kepler used Brahe's naked eye observations to make the astounding discovery that the orbits of the planets were not perfect circles but instead are elliptical shapes! In modern times, astrophysics, astronomy and cosmology have been popularized by notable educators such as prominent professors Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, Stephen Hawking, Hubert Reeves, Carl Sagan, Neil deGrasse Tyson and others. Their efforts have attracted and continue to draw young people to study astrophysics.{{Cite web |author=D. With the above, there is still room and need for expansion of this section, but I wonder if it might be considered an improvement? – Paine 14:23, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
