'Teachers- Social Change Agents. 'Italic text

Teachers are viewed positively in many countries throughout the world as someone who may assist with bringing about beneficial improvements in people's lives (Bourn, 2016). Teachers are role models to their students. Students who have no examples to look to for guidance are more than likely to look to their teachers to set the stage for their futures. There is saying that doctors save lives but teachers make lives.

Additionally, teachers are models for the majority of their students. They are responsible for motivating and encouraging students to excel in life. Cappy (2016), explains that education can be utilized to liberate individuals and reform society. Educators that teach in areas that hold education low esteem, can inflict positive change in the entire school community, and the community of its students as well. The more the parents of the students see the benefits of an education, they would prioritize their children’s education, bringing light to darkness in the education system and those communities that do not encourage their students to attain a strong educational background.

Besides being role models, John Hattie believes that teachers who believe that an accomplishment is malleable are more successful than those who believe it is constant (Waterloo Region District School Board, 2014). When a teacher believes in a child’s potential, they push their students to the highest. These are the teachers that have high success rates in national examinations. They motivate and encourage their students, building their self esteem and confidence to perform well. Teachers’ beliefs in their students are what drives their students to high success.

With that being said, as educators, our main goal is to first show our students that we believe in them. We must richly motivate them, and always set a positive example, as we the educators are responsible for bringing positive social change to this world.
