Don't want to list any of my interests or accomplishments here because I don't have independent and reliable sources to prove I am who I say I am.
Don't want to be deleted, you know.
The agency will neither confirm nor deny any knowledge of my existence. That can be both good and bad.
I'm better known, but not well liked in countries unfriendly to the U.S.
Failed writer. War criminal. Magazine editor. Poetry editor. Typographer. Macintosh snob.
• Registered on Wikipedia for almost four years now. One day ago (5-29-10) I became interested in a discussion involving deletion of a page, and decided to write a comment. That seems to immediately put me under suspicion. First-time editor. OK, so be it. The subject of the page is a poet I remember from my days as the editor of two poetry magazines, and I feel that the subject should be included in this encyclopedia. Unfortunately, writers of the small press and the literary press are not often featured in what these editors consider "reliable publications" – that almost never happens – even to the most notable of poets (unless they are the kind of people who employ public-relations workers). I'm writing a few comments in hopes of saving his page. It's irksome that editors who are operating outside their fields of expertise and knowledge make judgments regarding the "notability" of writers and poets.
• It seems there are many Wikipedia editors who spend their time acting as the Grim Reaper of Wikipedia pages. Of course it's important to maintain quality standards, but I find myself wondering about the motives of some of these editors. I sincerely hope that I will not turn in that direction with my future editing.
• It would be nice to hear explanations from some of the editors about why they feel the need to be so dismissive of anyone who questions them. I've read the discussion pages for some of these editors, and some of what's there is very eye opening.
