Coaching career
=Boise State=
Wilcox started coaching as an assistant at California. He became the defensive coordinator for the Boise State Broncos in 20?? and he coached there for four years. During that time, the Broncos led the WAC in both total defense and scoring defense. Most notably, the Broncos began the 2009 season by playing the Pac-10 champion Oregon. In that game, Oregon did not gain a first down until the third quarter and was held to a total of 31 rushing yards. The 2009 season ended with Boise State ranked 14th nationally in total defense en route to a perfect 14–0 season.
