Stuart Reid

(born March 23, 1953) is an Toronto-based artist and educator, whose transdisiciplinary practice includes drawing, painting, architectural glass, and architecture.

Reid taught at the University of Toronto from 1987-98, and has been teaching Environmental Design at OCADU, since 1987. Life and Work

Stuart Reid was born and grew up in London, Ontario at a time when Greg Curnoe, Jack Chambers, and others were championing the regionalist art movement, and the city had a thriving and vibrant arts scene. In his last year of High School, Reid transferred to

H.B. Beal Secondary School

, where he had the opportunity to study art under Patterson Ewen.

In 1974 Reid earned his BA in Find Arts from Guelph University, studying with Greg Curnoe.

While at Guelph Reid won a scholarship from the Richard Demarco Foundation which allowed him to travel to Edinburgh and work with Demarco as well as Joseph Beuys. From 1974-75 Reid studied stained glass with renowned glass artist Patrick Reyntiens at Burleighfield House.

In 1985 Reid earned his M Arch from UCLA.
