A picture tells a thousand words. Need to find free Public Domain or Creative Commons images? These are the places I search most:
- [http://search.usa.gov/search/images?affiliate=usagov&m=true&query= USA Search] and [http://www.defenseimagery.mil/imagery.html DefenseImagery], US image repositories, usually under the license of {{PD-USGov}} or {{PD-USGov-Military}}
- [http://www.pictureaustralia.org/apps/pictureaustralia?mode=advanced Picture Australia - repository of many Australian image sites] under various free or non-free licenses, depending on the source. Images older than 50 years are usually free under the license of {{PD-Australia}}
- [http://www.flickr.com/search/advanced/ Flickr.com Advanced Photo Search (tick the bottom three creative commons boxes when searching)] (flickr users are often willing to [http://www.flickr.com/help/photos/#87 change licenses] (see here) if you message them) usually under the license of {{cc-by-2.0}} or {{cc-by-sa-2.0}}
