:Hello again! Blimey, it's been a long time since I last posted here (well, a week). Revision always seems to remove your time sense, doesn't it? One second, the exams are 3 weeks away, there's more than enough time; 3 seconds later, you're standing outside the exam hall, not being able to remember the definition of a species and confusing radicles with plumules. Ah well, better late than never (unless you happen to be a bomb disposal expert). Here I am wittering away, when this post is supposed to be about

[http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Architecture_of_Leeds&diff=265329033&oldid=261499034 A comparison of the changes made since the last review]

Oh dear

=Plus points=

  • All but one of the pictures are properly licensced
  • Passes WP:LAYOUT
  • Passes WP:JARGON
  • The article is broad, yet focused
  • The article is stable

=Urgent!=

  • The fair use rationale for File:Quarry Hill Flats1.jpg appears to be malformed.

=Bad bits=

This is not a definitive list

  • Spelling and grammar: "While the first church in Leeds is thought to have been built around 600 AD.[2]"
  • Fails WP:LEAD: see WP:BOLDTITLE for why
  • Fails WP:AVOID: "It is generally regarded as one of the best examples of Norman churches in Yorkshire.[4]" by who? generally? one of the best? too unspecific
  • Fails WP:VERIFY: "Headingley[7] and Wetherby[8][9] both had castles dating from this era, however there are no notable visible remains of either of the structures. Headingley Castle was redeveloped into a Tudar-Gothic Villa of the same name.[7]" - source 7 is a photo of a hotel, with the castle glimpsed in the b/g. Where is the source for this info?
  • Fails WP:NPOV: the best example being "Leeds now has some of the best high rise architecture outside of London, in particular Bridgewater Place. "

The above includes only one example for each of the failed criterion; if you need any explanation, or more examples, feel free to contact me.

Unfortunately, I feel that I have to fail the article, based on the information provided above. Feel free to relist the article at WP:GAN when you feel it is ready. Thanks - weebiloobil (talk) 16:15, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

This will live here for a while, until I am satisfied with it

The Hemel Hempstead School is a specialised performing arts secondary school located in the town of Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, Europe. The school has about 1100 students, including a sixth-form, and over 70 members of staff. The current Headteacher is Sandra Samwell, who was appointed at the beginning of the 2006 academic year. The previous Headteacher was Alan Gray, who is now Head of Sandringham School in St Albans. The school has recently received news that it should be allowed a second specialism. It is also under going building work as the new drama rooms and auditorium are built towards the back of the grounds.

House system

The pupils are divided in to six house groups, each named after local villages:

Ashridge - Chalfont - Flaunden - Latimer - Nettleden - Pendley

The houses compete against each other to win annual events such as sports day, house drama, house music, house dance and house Christmas decorations. House captains are picked from the lower sixth-form (year 12) to organise their house efforts in these events (save sports day).

Subjects Available

The school teaches the subjects of:

English, Mathematics, Science (broken down into three categories of Biology, Chemistry and Physics later in the school), Physical Education, Sport, Religious Studies, Geography, History, Drama, Dance, Art, Design and Technology (a rota of metal work, wood work, textiles, graphics, food and product design), Psychology (sixth-form), Business Studies, Information Technology (computers), Modern Foreign Languages (German, French and Spanish(sixth-form)) home economics, Catering, sociology and music.

[[Student council]]

The school has many levels of student responsibility. There is a student council (2 students elected from each year group, elected each year). The student council attempts to take some responsibility in making decisions in how the school is run - for example they may interview new teachers. The most recent example is the appointment of the current headteacher.
