File:Information.svg Before adding a category to an article, as you did to :Neon Genesis Evangelion, please make sure that the subject of the article really belongs in the category that you specified according to Wikipedia's categorization guidelines. The category being added must already exist, and must be supported by the article's verifiable content. Categories may be removed if they are deemed incorrect for the subject matter. Thank you. File:Information orange.svg From your edit summaries in seems that you do not undeerstand how categories work in WIkipedia. Therefore please do not engage in edit wars about categories. If your edit is objected, please explain your reasoning in article talk page. --Altenmann >talk 05:31, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
:Thank you for contacting me regarding the article Old New Land and its categorization. Both utopian fiction and science fiction are distinct speculative fiction types. Utopian fiction imagines ideal nations ruled by justice and harmony at times without science, whereas sci-fi explores plausible STEM findings and inventions as in space travel and AI often without morals. Each explores untried lifestyles, but the former focuses on social good while the latter does on advanced tech, dreams that overlap yet are different. Please tell me if you wish more discussion. 24.47.39.190 (talk) 06:53, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
::Please stop adding categories to articles that don't support them. You are adding categories that fail WP:CATDEF, that are not mentioned or sourced in the articles. We should not just be adding every category you can think of, or every category your interpretation suggests. Categories must be supported by sourced material in the articles and must be defining. Canterbury Tail talk 17:24, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
:::Not sure why this IP has attention now, other than more use lately. Wikipedia articles with more categories have improved context, pertinence, and discovery. Users are aided when finding topics by better navigation through links. Thus folks get similar info, enhanced browsing, and robust indices that help relevance and visibility. Save for vandalism reversions, most of my edits for decades are inspired by poor labels on articles and templates, even with good citations. Feel free to ask about my edits or revert anything deemed egregious. 24.47.39.190 (talk) 19:34, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
::::Do you understand that there is such a thing as adding too many categories to an article, especially if they're not supported by the article itself? Harryhenry1 (talk) 00:37, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
:::::Without getting too offended, I care that contributors must balance categorization with readability. Excessive links can create clutter that may bias relevant navigation. However, inputting enough intersectional categories based on references is crucial. Improved search discovery through accurate context helps users find articles in precise sub-fields. By having enough relevant categories while avoiding unneeded ones, Wikipedians should improve access to organized coherent pages without losing clarity. Please talk with me about edits and even edit style unless it is just better to revert, which is okay. 24.47.39.190 (talk) 10:40, 28 February 2025 (UTC)

File:Information.svg Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit(s) you made to :The Hobbit, did not appear to be constructive and have been reverted.
: Please note, as you were informed in February (above on this talk page), that categories may only be added to articles when they are justified by cited text already in the article. Thus, editors must not add a category about a novel being adapted to a ballet unless the article states in terms that the novel has in fact been so adapted, cited to a reliable source. I hope this is clear.
Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use the sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. :Thank you for contacting me regarding the article The Hobbit and its categorization. I see most I added are still up, yet I am wrong to cite info on the Adaptations of The Hobbit page for the main one. Unlike the parent article, the adaptations page has a Film and Television section with well-linked items for American, British, Soviet, Russian, and Finnish broadcast versions of mixed quality and permission. There is also poor note of a Finnish ballet under Music, though the wider Web has more. I can write referenced article text if asked, and will discuss this more if you desire. 24.47.39.190 (talk) 00:05, 11 March 2025 (UTC)

File:Information.svg Hello, I'm Golikom. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to :Carrie (novel) have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. You've been repeatedly warned about adding non defining categories - please read WP:OVERCAT Golikom (talk) 06:22, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
:Thank you for contacting me about the article Carrie (novel) and its categorization. Posting more category links on Wikipedia articles strengthens discovery and travel by making additional entrances that aid efficient search. Connecting topics builds cross-disciplinary awareness and furthers helpful indexing. Cluttered text can be a worry, yet also mitigated by good labels, which tends to enhance a positive user experience on the site. Please consider sharing with me any specific issues with my good faith category edits. 24.47.39.190 (talk) 08:57, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
::At the same time, many have boiced their concerns that you've been adding too many of these categories- have you read WP:OVERCAT and understand what it's trying to discourage? Harryhenry1 (talk) 10:45, 26 March 2025 (UTC)

Happy editing! Ed [talk] [OMT] 15:57, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
:Thank you for contacting me about my recent editing. Though not what you asked, I sporadically made now-stale user accounts across several decades. My experience is that more contentious Wikipedians like to fight with strangers on the Internet when codenames are posted than with easy-to-dismiss anons. This site means to not grief or at least less, yet its articles about itself belie that. As for my happy editing tasks of choice, that has mostly been confined to improving templates and categories. Please give feedback for any concerns or compliments on revisions save for times when undoing my efforts is more expedient, which I welcome as I am not always right. 24.47.39.190 (talk) 17:47, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
::So do you think users under IP addresses get attacked less somehow? I'm not quite sure I follow the logic here. Harryhenry1 (talk) 11:24, 9 April 2025 (UTC)
:::I think discourse is not attack, many online want problems, and some Wikipedia users make huge edits as other content lapses persist. As a point of inquiry with jargon, I wish to know when WP:V is fine how to apply WP:BOLD without having any WP:OVERCAT issues. 24.47.39.190 (talk) 15:16, 9 April 2025 (UTC)

. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 10:46, 26 March 2025 (UTC):I apologize for my revived Wikipedia edits interest causing strife. The main improvements that I ever made are to categories and templates, but my late efforts maybe altered some speculative fiction articles too much, fast, and/or badly. Being familiar with the site for many years with ID or not, I know the difference between sandbox testing and proper articles, and I might have erred in usefulness while fixated with completion. My intention is to get advice from Wikipedia pages and people on step-wise germane editing after the block lifts or runs out. Thanks for reading this. 24.47.39.190 (talk) 18:10, 26 March 2025 (UTC)

Guess not sure about film edits, please help
My deep apologies for seeming to not grasp what I am doing wrong regarding articles about feature films and the works they adapt. It seems many relevant categories are sometimes missing or wrongly attached to huge walls of text in the category lists. If helpful, I will curb editing that type of content in favor of other projects. Please advise, sorry for the trouble. 24.47.39.190 (talk) 12:03, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
:Basically, other editors view your category additions and edits as unhelpful and unnecessary. The editor reverting your work on Cast Away also suggested you read WP:CATDEF to help with this. Harryhenry1 (talk) 12:49, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
::Thanks for replying fast. The escalating blocks are my fault, yet it seems to occur only when I edit intersectional categories of popular fiction with prominent adaptations. As said elsewhere, I get the importance of WP:V with regards to WP:CATDEF and WP:BADCAT, yet apparently not in context of WP:BOLD when applied to WP:OVERCAT or WP:CATPOV. For ownership, I should learn or just stop. Any help with this or the blocking would be appreciated. 24.47.39.190 (talk) 14:02, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
:::Frankly, I think it's time for a WP:TOPICBAN on categories, broadly construed. I'm not at all sure you have the necessary skills to edit en.wikipedia.org at all, but I am sure you lack the skills to edit categories. --Yamla (talk) 14:11, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
::::Feedback is welcome, yet the prior response with the unblock declination reason might be a WP:BRICK issue. Despite being humanly wrong in my life at times, a WP:CIR citation presumes much of the origin, education, and intent of another. To be honest, if use or even misuse of decades-old major features troubles any admins, then this anon respectfully asks that another step in on WP:INVOLVED grounds. Regrets for any contention. 24.47.39.190 (talk) 15:19, 14 April 2025 (UTC)

Hello to HJ Mitchell and all others. While I may not have drafted this request well, I hope repeat error in trying to contribute to fiction franchise articles will not be held against me for a whole month. Just since I read pages that seem incomplete, errant, or bad does not make me correct. No learning curve should be offered when one is just a problem, and seems I am. My intention is to make edits of a kind both more measured and less numerous. Any act by me deemed disruptive will cease or be fixed. I hope to allowed to become a better contributor. Thanks kindly. 24.47.39.190 (talk) 13:10, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
