Small question

Just wanted to ask you a quick question regarding placing the speedy deletion tag on Hannam University. Since you are an admin, couldn't you have just deleted the article straight away instead of tagging it for deletion? I'm just curious. Justjourney (talk | contribs) 03:46, 3 April 2025 (UTC)

:@Justjourney Yes, I could have. However it is my personal preference that when I see a page that I think qualifies for CSD, to get at least one more opinion. I will deal unilaterally with really obvious cases of naked vandalism, G10 attack pages, or blatant copyright vios. But otherwise I just feel better if more than one set of eyes looked at the same page and concluded it needs to go. So If I'm the first one to see it, I will usually just tag it. Of course if someone else has tagged it, and I am the reviewing admin, then that satisfies my customary rule for two sets of eyes reaching the same conclusion. But that's just how I do things. Many admins will just zap the page if they think it meets the criteria. -Ad Orientem (talk) 04:15, 3 April 2025 (UTC)

Returned blocked editor causing trouble yet again

Hello Ad Orientem! Sorry to bother you, you've helped out previously with this block evading editor, such as back here, amongst other things they constantly delete data-sort values/sortnames from filmographies for no reason despite being asked many times not to do so by myself & others. They are a perpetual pest originally blocked as Mickeydee15. They use multiple accounts or IPs & to come back & delete stuff despite reversion again & again, such as at Hélène Joy's article here where all three mentioned above have taken turns. There they have been removing data-sort values as Gilbertcat, 184.147.21.164 & 155.254.243.135. All of those accounts can be traced back to high activity at the List of Murdoch Mysteries episodes & List of Murdoch Mysteries characters as well as Blue Bloods related articles I've been aware of their multiple accounts (plus more) for a while, been trying to just fix the damage they do & even attempted to ask them to please stop nicely. To no avail (just found they had stripped sorting from Ellen Burstyn's filmography). I wonder if you'd be able to please swat a few of those accounts please? Might help give them the hint to knock off removing data-sort. Thank-you for your time! LooksGreatInATurtleNeck (talk) 23:10, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

:@LooksGreatInATurtleNeck Blocked all three. The sock is indeffed and the two IPs blocked x 1 month. I've also protected some of the pages for a while. -Ad Orientem (talk) 23:26, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

::Hello Ad Orientem! So quick! Thank-you kindly for doing that! Sadly I fear they will always be back.:( I cannot understand why they remove relevant refs & data-sort/sortnames, I've explained to them what data-sort is for a few times now. Even ignoring the fact data-sort is a desired addition, you'd think they'd realise that constantly deleting 'em is a sure giveaway to them being recognised as that blocked member. They'd fly under the radar much easier if they just stopped doing it. All I can think is maybe they use the deletions to build up their sock accounts' edits. I feel bad always bringing you these pesky people. Your help is, as always, much appreciated. LooksGreatInATurtleNeck (talk) 23:38, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

:::@LooksGreatInATurtleNeck Some of that may be an effort to game the system and get auto-confirmed for their sock accounts. Always happy to help out. -Ad Orientem (talk) 00:09, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
