Third Opinion

Hi Averell, I saw the dispute posting regarding the Bashkirian Airlines crash on Third Opinion. I have posted my opinion on the article's talk page. I noticed that you and Homer L. were both extremely civil and I wanted to take the time to commend you on that point. Regards, Lazulilasher (talk) 16:21, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Tea and anthrax

The Microbiologist for MArch 2008 is available online (tea & anthrax), in case you are interested. Not world-shakingly important. Best wishes Pol098 (talk) 19:23, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

: Thanks a lot. It seems much like what we expected :) Averell (talk) 06:15, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

::Indeed. I've modified the article a little. The article also suggests that tea might have some effect on the course of the infection {A similar mechanism is thought to account for the ability of (-)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate- to inhibit the in vivo activity of the lethal toxin}, but there's no explicit claim. Deck Merge

You made a suggestion about the merge with deck (ship) and 01-Level deck. I agreed with the merge, and I don't see anyone else saying anything about it. If someone changes it back, we can see the user. Colonel Marksman (talk) 07:58, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Maria Elena Holly

Hi Averell23, thank you for your message. Yes, I remember that I didn't mind the merge. What happened was that soemone else went on to re-create the same article pasting the original material which I had written. At first I found it strange that someone would undelete the article and then figured that maybe it was done because during the time Maria has become notable within her own right. Then, the big surprise, when I checked the history page, I found out that the person or user had recreated the article and as I said before by pasting my original work and taking the credit as creator. I wasn't about to let this happen, so what I did was delete the copy and redirect the original with the real history page. Anyway, I don't have anthing against the merge, but I think that maybe Maria has become notable on her own merits. Tony the Marine (talk) 00:49, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

  • You are a good person to interact with. Just for the sake of common knowledge. You are going to put a time limit for the consensus, right? I mean, we are are not going to have a year long consensus (smile). I wouldn't want the people looking into the possibility of promoting Buddy Holly's article to "GA" status to hesitate becasue of it. Tony the Marine (talk) 03:13, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Re: Darfur Links

In rereading your second notice to me, I see that you are referring only to the link for the Justice and Equality Movement article... I apologize if I came on too strong above as your tone seemed a bit sarcastic initially to me when you complemented my useful contributions. The links I added, were in deed, the very same ones I added the first time, just tagged differently and not uploaded all at once. So I thought you were bringing to issue the very same contributions you were genuinely trying to complement.

In regard to the Justice and Equality Movement link, I feel it is appropriate because the movement, at the end of the day, is made up of individuals. In this case they come from the same region of the world, share the same general ideology, dress similarly, and have similar lifestyles which, currently, are benefiting the movement on a whole. Their collective history put them on this road they are currently on. The shared marginalization and desertified environment yielding the struggle for resources which is at the root cause of their movement. My photographs contain much of this information and therefore is, in my opinion, germane to the article in question. You mentioned looking at my photographs. Did you notice the child with the assault rifle? He is a member of the JEM, which is stated in the caption. This is important information about this movement, which is not presently covered in the article and conveys it in a very non-accusatory manner. This collection of pictures should ultimately ask more questions than it answers, but ultimately this serves the impetus for, inquiry, and expanding knowledge. I see this as a benefit to these specific articles.

I hope this finds you well. Thank you for sharing your time with my work.

Murder of Meredith Kercher

I read your recent talk page comment and sympathise with your sense of despair over this article. Unfortunately, the article is only ever going to improve if there is sufficient consensus of people who have a clear understanding of what an encyclopedia should look like. Please do try to put up with some of the nonsense that is talked on the talk page and continue to edit the article. Cheers. Bluewave (talk) 10:41, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

: Thanks for the sentiment, honestly :) Honestly, I keep this article on my watchlist to see that the worst can be prevented. On the other hand, my time for WP is limited, so I rather stick to serious contributions instead of wading through mile-long talk pages, and this is not the most important article ever. I still hope that at some point the Sherlock Holmes Jr.s will find another playground, though. Averell (talk) 17:28, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

::Thanks for the reply. Yes you're right: I've wasted way too much time on this article. I've got dozens of articles on my watchlist any of which could probably have been brought up to featured article standard in the same time. Cheers. Bluewave (talk) 18:34, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

Augmented Reality Applications in Medicine

Averell23,

I am writing in response to the edited I suggested for the medical applications section of the augmented reality page. I would like to contest this discission to remove my edit on the basis that: (1) I have no financial ties pertaining to the peer-reviewed publication, (2) this edit enhances the section of the topic by providing an additional example of the technologies application making it a well rounded article, (3) the edit raises awareness of the feild of anatomic pathology and the critical role pathologists play, especially in the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of cancer.

I would like to emphasize I have no financial conflicts pertaining to the edit and I do understand and believe in the importance of an unbiased Wikipedia. Yes, I am an author for the referenced material, but when the topic becomes as specific as the use of augmented reality in surgical pathology gross examination and training, I can count the number of people in this space on one hand. If I didn't write about it then who would?

Thank you for your time,
