I have moved the above page to Draft:Etymology of Chicago, the preferred place for submissions. What it most needs is a clearer format , starting with an introduction, and then continuing with all the hypotheses, not just 1 or 2. DGG ( talk ) 06:50, 28 February 2020 (UTC)

• I have MANY map images, although a small number of them would be useful here -- like, I could imagine a few dozen. My 17th century maps tell great stories when coupled with my narrative.
• Is a preferred best practice to have a hyper-link in the text to a book, or as a footnote with a link (if available) to a book.
• I have to figure out how to put the images on the page, and how to get those pop-up images. I have no doubt I'll catch on quick.

• Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. All we do here is cite, summarize, and paraphrase professionally-published mainstream academic or journalistic sources, without addition, nor commentary.
• We do not publish original thought nor original research.

Self-published sources should be avoided except for information by and about the subject that is not self-serving (for example, citing a company's website to establish something like year of establishment).
• Wikipedia is not a source for Wikipedia. This is intentional.
• User-generated sources (such as blogs, social media profiles, self-published books, or pay-to-print books) are generally not reliable sources. The only exception is when an already notable subject makes a claim about themselves that is not countered or doubted by independent sources.
• Please sign your posts on talk pages with four tildes (~~~~, found next to the 1 key), and please do not change others' comments. New comments go at the bottom, under the comments they are responding to.

It seems like I got two images on my draft, but then they disappeared. I figured that the ended in .jpg, when they should have be html sorced... which I did. Still can't get them back up. Do I develop questions in a chat format here, or is Teahouse better.

I could see no "edit this page". Could only see "edit". I added {{PD-old-100}} to it, but I don't know if I'm on the right track.

Your reference #12 and hyperlinks in the text go to a website you have created: http://earliestchicagomaps.com Not allowed. Remove the links and replace with references to published information. Other editors have added mentions that some of the content appears to be original research, i.e., your own conclusions. Same applies. David notMD (talk) 22:09, 17 March 2020 (UTC)
