Noticed in the Oscar Fulloné thread you mentioned the Complete record of Sheffield Utd book. If you still have access to it, and if it gives full names, birth/death dates/places of players, I'd be very grateful if you could spare a minute to look up Albert Rawson for me. Birmingham City complete record calls him Albert Norman Rawson died c.1980, and M.Joyce calls him Albert Noble Rawson died 1949. As the player was a Yorkshireman who began his Football League career with Sheff Utd, I'd hope their version might be more accurate. thanks, Struway2 (talk) 14:33, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

::No full names in this source, only Albert and initials AN. Year of Death 1949. In the definitive Barnsley by Brian Dennis also initials only and Year of Death 1980. These clubhistorians probably copy each other, saves a lot of time. I would go for Joyce, the Sheffield book seems to agree with him. ::0 appearances in 1901-02, 2 in 1902-03 scoring 1 goal (still St Mirren). In 1903-04 5 appearances for Hamilton Academical. In 1906-07 he was already playing for Oldham Athletic: 38 matches in the Lancaster Combination scoring 2 goals. First known club Irvine Meadow. :::::There was another James Wilson playing for St Mirren in 1906-07 who can't have been the player mentioned above. I think both sources aren't always reliable. I checked a few pre-1920 Hibernian seasons in Emms-Wells, with 14 teams competing I would expect 26 X 11 = 286 appearances in total, this was not the case. The Alan Brown stats appear to be "more complete" , but are sometimes very different from other sources. I would always prefer a good club history book, but in Scotland these aren't always available. It's not easy to collect reliable and complete historical stats, sources often contradict each other. In Scotland well known players sometimes played under a Nom de plume for other clubs, trialists played under names like "Brown" etc. All this is not a problem as long as references are added. ::There are 2 players with this name one born 22-3-1870 and the Scotland international. A lot of books got them mixed up. I believe Joyce is the correct version. The 22-3-1870 McInnes only missed one game for Luton Town in 1899-1900. According to my Bristol Rovers book Tom McInnes played 19 Southern League games in 1899-1900 9 goals (signed 9-10-1899 no previous club mentioned) This clearly can't be the Tom McInnes born 22-3-1870 as the Bristol Rovers book claims, The Scotland international is much more likely. In the first edition of the Joyce book Bristol Rovers wasn't mentioned (Third Lanark was), it seems to be a fairly recent discovery. Scottish stats for the International: 1891-92 Clyde 22-6 Port Glasgow 1904-05 1-0 According to Emms-Wells. Also Third Lanark 1899-1900 0 in this source (a very brief trail could still be possible) The other Tom McInnes played for Third Lanark in 1893-94 18 matches 8 goals Cattivi (talk) 00:51, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

:Thanks for looking, it's most likely that they were Second Division appearances. On Gilbert Richmond, the Nelson book says only that he had a "coaching appointment" in Sweden starting in 1947, but no mention of time in Holland. ::Hai, I'm not sure at all he ever trained Feyenoord. Maybe he did, but he's not on the existing lists. It can be very difficult to trace the careers of trainers in the Netherlands. A lot of them worked part time for several clubs at the same time, or only for short periods for one club (like only in the summer). Dutch football was not professional at that time and a lot of clubs couldn't afford to employ a fulltime trainer. What I found is a trainer named Molnar who worked in Rotterdam in the 1930's (first name Ignac) who trained Xerxes in 1932-33,1936-39 (probably more seasons) ,RFC summer of 1937 and earlier (summer of 1936?). Quick (Den Haag) summer of 1933, Willem II (1931-32) and Antwerp (1934-36?) It's the same Molnar who later trained Fenerbahce. There's a big mismatch on the French Wikipedia between Klaas Ooms and Karel Ooms. I think it comes from the time when, on the Dutch Wikipedia, the page nl:Karel Ooms (voetballer) has been redirected to nl:Klaas Ooms. Klaas is born in Amsterdam, 9 June 1917, and Karel is born 25 september 1916. Hence the French page about Karel is 95% false as he wasn't selected for the World Cup '38. I fixed the mistakes and removed the interwiki links.

Concerning Daaf Drok, his file on [http://www.bsdb.be www.bsdb.be] mentions he played for Anderlecht during several years. The birthdate and position match between BSDB and the other wiki articles so I guess it's the same player. LordSuprachris (talk) 08:03, 7 January 2013 (UTC)

Wonder if you could find time to confirm whether Archie McLeod is the same Archibald McLeod that signed for Partick Thistle from Parkhead ahead of the 1933/34 season and played for Partick in the Scottish League that season, before going to Derry City in 1934? The Daily Express of 31 August 1933 reports Partick Thistle signing centre-forward Archibald McLeod from Parkhead, (can't do a URL, sorry). Hi Cattivi, thanks again for your help on the Len Puddefoot article. Is it possible to ask a favour? I'm in the process of creating a basic article for William Brown, who played for Partick Thistle, Vale of Leven and West Ham United in the 1900s. I wondered if he had an entry in the book you mentioned before (Scottish League players' division one 1890/91 to 1938/39 by Steve Emms and Richard Wells)? The Partick Thistle History Archive has him born in 1885 and playing for them between 1905-1906, but I can't use that as a reference as it's an external Wiki.[http://partickthistleahistory.wikifoundry.com/page/Players+B][http://partickthistleahistory.wikifoundry.com/page/BROWN%2C+William+1905-06] I have the details of him joining Thistle referenced from elsewhere, but I'm unable to find refs for the date he left, or his dob. Ayr Parkhouse 1905-06 (probably a loan but that's not in the book). 1906-07 Vale of Leven 16 goals, 1907-08 West Ham 17-4 (SL) 1908-09 West Ham 2-0 (SL) I have a copy of Partick Thistle Football Club 1876-2002 The official history (Reid, Kennedy, Thomson, Anderson, Deans) on page 130 there is William Brown 1905-06 4-1. The first one was a friendly against St Mirren on Aug 15th 1905 (p 141) On page 163 Brown is listed twice: A league game against Motherwell (H) Oct 28th + a Glasgow League game against Clyde May 12th both Inside Left. And another league game Third Lanark (H) Jan 6th, inside right. I can't find the goal he scored in this book. So there could well be two league games in 1905-06.
