Question from [[User:Renee20|Renee20]] (04:05, 7 May 2025)

yes, hello everytime I check my sandbox it is empty and I tried to move my work to the mainpage and was given a message that It was vandalism. --Renee20 (talk) 04:05, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

:Hi {{u|Renee20}}. I'm an admin so I can see deleted contributions and it doesn't look like you have made any edits to pages that were deleted. If you're looking for your sandbox, there's User:Renee20/sandbox. ClovermossπŸ€ (talk) 20:49, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

Chief Executive Officer

It would be nice to call you Wikimedia CEO. You also wouldn't have to worry about money anymore. Just a thought. Viriditas (talk) 10:23, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

:The more I think about it, the more I like it. I'm tired of the gerontocracy. You may not be uniquely qualified based on your sheer statistical work history, but I think you should apply all the same. Yes, it sounds crazy, but knowing someone who is young and open to new ideas is in charge and interested in the future is important just the same. I've spent the last 30 years watching old people make the wrong decisions and I'm sick of it. Viriditas (talk) 10:38, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

::{{ping|Viriditas}} Is there anything in particular that brought this on? A decision the foundation made that upset you? The current political climate? I'm still getting used to the idea that people think I'm great or inspiring or whatever, and I've never really known what to say in response whenever I hear it. It's such a weird feeling. It definitely seems like some people are bigger fans of me than even I am. ClovermossπŸ€ (talk) 14:49, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

:::None of the above. That’s not how I function, but it’s true, that probably explains how most people work. I just like to see other people do well. You should apply for the position. Viriditas (talk) 20:29, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

::As I'm sure you're aware, the CEO role for an organization with the scope and size of the Wikimedia Foundation requires substantial management skills, including financial and promotional acumen. No one should jump to managing over 700 staff and contractors without having shown their readiness to do so. isaacl (talk) 04:37, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

:::Like clockwork, you can set your watch to it. How droll and predictable. Viriditas (talk) 05:22, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

::::Look, I'm flattered you think I'd do a great job there, but I think I'm severely underqualified for a role of such magnitude. I don't even feel comfortable enough to consider running for ArbCom even though people have tried to get me to do so in the past.

::::In regards to my work history, I wasn't even a manager when I worked at McDonald's (nor at my current job, though the hierarchy for seafaring positions is a bit different). I'm willing to push the boundaries a bit for most things and change the status quo if I think there's good reason to do so, but even I have my limits. Applying to be the CEO of the Wikimedia Foundation would involve a lot of self-confidence and audacity I don't have. I doubt it's even something one could apply for like a normal job anyways. ClovermossπŸ€ (talk) 06:50, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

:::::I think you're quite realistic about your strengths and weaknesses, Clovermoss. Incremental personal growth will stand you in good stead for a senior leadership position a few years. {{u|Viriditas}}, I think it's almost cruel to suggest a young woman with no organizational management experience should consider applying for a role that is so far outside of her range of life experience. If I didn't know better, I would have taken this as a bad joke; however, having had the opportunity to see your interactions and work on Wikipedia for many years, I think you are being serious. I would point out that none of the WMF EDs/CEOs would be considered a member of the gerontocracy. All of them were under age 45 when hired, and most of them were in their 30s. Risker (talk) 10:45, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

::::::Thanks, Risker. That's a wonderfully crafted insult. Well done. My comment about the gerontocracy has nothing to do with Wikimedia, but the words were so close together you assumed otherwise. Clovermoss, I consider the disussion closed and I won't be continuing it here or elsewhere; my apologies. Viriditas (talk) 10:57, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from [[User:Aiparabellum|Aiparabellum]] (13:09, 7 May 2025)

Hi Hannah,

I want to add an AI Tools Directory (https://aiparabellum.com) to this page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_web_directories in the Niche section.

Is it ok if I make the change? Please confirm. Thanks.

Regards,

Vinish Kapoor --Aiparabellum (talk) 13:09, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

:Hi {{u|Aiparabellum}}, lists like these generally only include entries that are considered notable. If it doesn't meet Wikipedia's criteria for that and doesn't have an article, it likely shouldn't be included on the list. Hope that helps. ClovermossπŸ€ (talk) 20:40, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

::Noted with thanks. 2405:201:4014:6B43:F4AB:30A5:32A8:B1E6 (talk) 01:43, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
