Hello Danielrona, thank you for contributing. When I saw [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Marshall_Rosenberg&diff=prev&oldid=937865334 your edit] I first was sceptical, since such edits to biographies by users who have not edited anything before, are, in over 90% of the cases, wrong. But you seem to be really trying to do the right thing, as evidenced by your edit summary and your question at the teahouse. As user:Willbb234 answered there, we can't really use birth certificates as sources. The reason is not just because of the maybe somewhat academic distinction between primary and secondary sources, but, maybe more understandably, because checking such documents requires more work than any of us can invest. In my view, you seem to be trustworthy, so I'll let it stand, although I don't regard his middle name, let alone that of his father, as relevant for an encyclopedic article about him. The article already contains some unencyclopedic information, such as that his grandmother was “was dying of ALS in the dining room”, but that helps to understand where he's coming from. The other name called out as needing attention is “Weiner/Wiener”. Now that falls a bit between those two cases: One can imagine his grandparents or his mother being teased about that name, which might connect with Marshall's sensitivity and also might explain a change of spelling. Now that is all just speculation, but since you wrote “The spelling of Weiner [for Jean] is correct”, you might know whether it was correct for Jean's parents, too. Since it seems we have no sources at all for either of these names, you're free to change those. ◄ Sebastian 13:39, 29 January 2020 (UTC)
