Hey, as you are working on the horse racing articles, wanted to show you this: [http://www.equibase.com/rotw/fullpp.pdf] (which hopefully will still be the link to the PP card for today's Belmont by the time you see this). It's a great example to show what people actually pay to enter a big horse race, to wit: "By subscription of $600 each, to accompany the nomination, if made on or before January 16, 2016, or $6,000, if made on or before March 21, 2016. At any time prior to the closing time of entries, horses may be nominated to The Belmont Stakes upon payment of a supplementary fee of $75,000 to the New York Racing Association, Inc. $15,000 to pass the entry box and $15,000 additional to start." So in other words, while it might look like entrants pay $15,000 to start, they actually paid somewhere from $30,600 to $105,000 to start, depending on whether they nominated them as 2-year-olds or not... I saw your edit on the 1970 Tour, young rider classification. I think your source is better than the original source, but I found another source that gives the top 5 for this classification, and it agrees to the original numbers...

One sentence jumped out at me: "McGuire's starting line up, and most of the roster, consisted primarily of players from New York state." Is this significant, or simply a coincidence? It seems odd to me to mention it if it wasn't significant, but If it was simply a coincidence, part of the sentence should likely read, "and coincidentally, most of the roster".

The sentence you're referring to is rather important as typically UNC would have several in-state players or from states nearby. When McGuire came to the school he came from St. John's (a New York school) and was able to feed players to the school from NY and NJ and so the roster when UNC won in '57 was very unique as it was completely from NY or NJ except for two players. ::That's not to say there isn't divisions to be done. 1989 Tour de France and the other 90s and 00s Tours are split between the qualified and invited, similar to how we split them now with World Tour and Conti. I got a hold of the book and scanned it, but it was an Italian copy and only after did I find out about the english translated edition by Buzzati! There was a similar book by the Pratolini I got for the '55 Giro as well, so that'll take some lengthy translation to do manually on the google translate. Hi, I was surprised to see what happened to my GA nomination of this article. For some reason I wasn't notified at all on my talk page, so all I got was the one word "fail" in an edit comment on the article's talk page, not exactly a great welcome first thing in the morning.

I am accustomed to working through GA review comments with reviewers, sometimes for a week or more. None of your comments seem particularly difficult or serious, in the sense that a few hours' work could not sort them out. Quick fail is generally reserved for articles that are grossly uncited, absurdly uninformative, or fail to cover several major aspects of the subject; I'd not agree that any of those apply here, on what is a relatively straightforward topic, and I'd certainly like to have had the opportunity to discuss the way ahead.

I'll work through your suggestions now and (if you wish) consult you on progress. Personally I find the best way to do this is to have a GAN open so the comments and replies are kept in a place that everyone can find (rather than on editor's talk pages or whatever). So from my perspective it would be best to open a GAN rather soon, but I'm happy to wait until I've responded to all the existing suggestions. :I would argue that lack of "broad coverage" qualified for the quick fail and you're totally free to re-nominate. I see your making adjustments, which is good, just keep adding more info and don't forget to expand the lead accordingly. I noticed you still have the website Indix cited, which is a retail site and therefore not RS - but the link doesn't go to their site anymore.
