I saw your comment on MPF's page - he hasn't been active on Wikipedia since January, so it's unlikely he'll reply to your question. The easiest way to add an image is to use the following syntax (or something like it)

Image:Jacaranda_resize.jpg which will produce the image on the top right. That's an automatic thumbnail size.

Image:Jacaranda_resize.jpg

You can force an image size by specifying the number of pixels, which will produce the image on the left

Image:Jacaranda_resize.jpg

Or you can so thi

Image:Jacaranda_resize.jpg which will produce the smaller image on the lower right.
