Drmies, is it okay with you if I restore old edits to this SPI report (ie, versions prior to the recent disruption by Use:103.25.250.252) since some of the discussions there are indirectly relevant to a new SPI? Abecedare (talk) 16:41, 20 April 2025 (UTC)

:I think Abecedare and I are investigating the same thing, and I assumed you deleted the SPI by mistake when you were cleaning up after a harassment sock and undeleted it without checking with you. Help with articles

Hey there can you help me with some articles? DarkHorseMayhem (talk) 00:02, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

:I guess not. DarkHorseMayhem (talk) 21:31, 22 April 2025 (UTC)

::It's kind of a vague question. Sure? Maybe? Depends? Drmies (talk) 00:45, 23 April 2025 (UTC)

:::Was wondering i you could help me with this draft: Draft:Jack Trawick aince you are a good editor and know how to make and edit pages well. Sorry for bothering you. DarkHorseMayhem (talk) 00:53, 23 April 2025 (UTC)

::::I don't know--what do you need? It looks like it's going places. I just turned four sentences into a paragraph and tried to bring some variation into it, but I don't know for instance if those references are good enough for this kind of article. The lawyer I have on retainer, User:Newyorkbrad, might be a better judge of that material. As long as you follow convention--and such articles in particular follow convention--you should be fine. Good luck, Drmies (talk) 01:03, 23 April 2025 (UTC)

:::::Add more spurces more content etc but Okay thank you for help , sorry pestering you and my bad for being rude DarkHorseMayhem (talk) 01:07, 23 April 2025 (UTC)

::::::No, you're fine, I just didn't feel like fishing through your contributions to see what was up. That crime stuff isn't really my thing. Your sources are mostly local newspapers. I like the Birminghamwiki but it's probably not really broadly accepted--I don't know if that's a problem for these factoids, but I'd check the sources they have. And I would look around to see if national newspapers and perhaps law journals have written him up (don't know until you try, though it seems a pretty straightforward case). And you might look for the EJI archives--perhaps they had an interest in the case, although it's pretty old. Drmies (talk) 01:16, 23 April 2025 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: :Pierre Karam

Hello Drmies, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of :Pierre Karam, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Author has not requested deletion, or other users have added substantial content. You may wish to review the WP:CSDCriteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 19:59, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

 • Whpq, please look at my edit summary for that tag, the history of the article, the talk page, and now the freshly applied tag. Thanks. Drmies (talk) 20:51, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
 • You made significant cleanup. If you agree it should be deleted, I will process it as a G7. -- Whpq (talk) 21:10, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
 • Well, first of all I didn't really tag it, I replaced a tag that I removed in yet another huge promotional edit. As far as I'm concerned it can go but of course that original editor is NOT the sole author. Ha, even that weird book reference took significant time. But I'm fine with deletion, yes. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 21:16, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

Template removal

I saw your recent edit revert at Zootopia 2. Guy Without Name has been removing that protection template across several articles ignoring instructions not to do so. NJZombie (talk) 14:08, 22 April 2025 (UTC)

 • I looked at a couple of their edits but didn't see any more like it. Next time they make odd/unverified changes, just make a note on their talk page--that makes it easier for us to act. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 14:47, 22 April 2025 (UTC)

problems with copyvio and cir

Found you via the recently active admins list and would rather avoid ANI if possible. At David Abraham Cheulkar I reverted a contribution which contained a copyright violation, posted a copyvio-revdel template, and warned and started a discussion about the contribution with the editor. They have since readded the offending text in this diff.

Not sure how to proceed from here. The revdel template says not to remove it, and I am hesitant to keep reverting and making a mess of the page history and repeatedly updating the template.

On the cir end of things, if you see the discussion I had with them about their edit, they don't seem to be able to understand the violation, saying and While also arguing all the while about how they provided proper sources, which they did not. I believe they've been reverted and revdel'd before on the same article prior and I also spotted copy-and-paste from them on Manoj Comics which is also tagged for revdel.

If there is a better venue for this then I apologize. Thank you. fifteen thousand two hundred twenty four (talk) 15:27, 25 April 2025 (UTC)

 • It seems like by now it's been handled, right? Drmies (talk) 21:12, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
 • It seems like they used their "paraphrasing tools" to restore the revdel'd content at Manoj Comics in this diff: Special:Diff/1287338759. The removed content was a copy-and-paste job so this is better, maybe even far enough removed from the original to not be a violation. They did that before your warning here though. Your call if that's actionable in some way, if not then nothing more to be done here. Thank you. (added 07:32, 26 April 2025 (UTC)): If I encounter future similar issues with them would you suggest I message you, or see a noticeboard? fifteen thousand two hundred twenty four (talk) 05:24, 26 April 2025 (UTC)
 • I'll have a look but it's not really my thing, no. ANI is an option. Drmies (talk) 17:13, 26 April 2025 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of :Sex dice

File:Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article :Sex dice has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I don't think that there's enough coverage of sex dice to justify an article. Very niche.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the proposed deletion/dated notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing proposed deletion/dated will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. JayCubby 18:32, 26 April 2025 (UTC)

:Never mind, it's been prodded before. My apologies. Self-reverted. JayCubby 18:39, 26 April 2025 (UTC)

::It's a pretty dumb little article, isn't it. Drmies (talk) 19:46, 26 April 2025 (UTC)

::: talk page watcher I would suggest as an alternative moving this to Novelty dice and making this a section of a broader article on that topic, adding information on various other novelty dice that have been marketed. BD2412 T 20:31, 26 April 2025 (UTC)

:::I find it amusing, dumb isn't the right word for it. But I'm surprised we don't have an article on 'novelty dice' already. Cheers. JayCubby 21:13, 26 April 2025 (UTC)

Can you check an edit please

. If you check the Medium link they added, I won't repeat most of the nonsense in the medium post but it ends with...'I am suing Wikipedia for discrimination if they take this reference down on their end. That is a warning. You idiots at Wikipedia will be drug into my case. Stop your “boys club” and admiration for criminals based on this veneer of “success” they show.'

Obviously I reverted. I think it needs a rev/del and a block? Knitsey (talk) 02:22, 27 April 2025 (UTC)

 • Yeah--I'm going to wait on the block and decide after their next edit, if that's OK with you. Drmies (talk) 02:31, 27 April 2025 (UTC)
 • OK, I just think that the rather ridiculous medium article, it's talk of whore houses and talk about the subjects wife and signed with the same signature as their Wikipedia profile just smacks of vandalism. But I'm away to bed soon so I will leave it with you. Thanks for taking a look though. Knitsey (talk) 02:39, 27 April 2025 (UTC)
 • The whole thing stinks, that's true, and after another look at the "article", yeah, NOTHERE. Hope you had sweet dreams. Drmies (talk) 20:27, 27 April 2025 (UTC)
 • :We have to be careful not to dismiss claims, but if I remember rightly (I didn't keep the link) the wording was blurgh and the last bit about Wikipedia was in preparation for their edit.
 • :I once explained to someone over and over again about needing a reference about a claim of winning some championship, I don't remember the details but in the end they linked to a blog with a one liner about so-and-so winning this championship. I mean, that's got to be a 10/10 for effort. I think they were a kid. Knitsey (talk) 20:43, 27 April 2025 (UTC)

Far Cry games...

That category of putting the Far Cry games into Dragon Quest spinoff games that you reverted seems to be from a typographical error when the original Far Cry category was put to speedy (eg see this diff where I think Gonnym appears to have not changed the line for the Far Cry series when they included the Dragon Quest series on the next line. There is zero connection between the Dragon Quest and Far Cry series at all (they're completely different publishers), so I'm confident this was an error and the edits were properly fixing that. Ryan Holiday article rollback

Hi Drmies —

A quick note about yesterday’s full reversion of Ryan Holiday to the 24 April version. The rollback removed several MOS-cleanups and sourcing fixes added in good faith by me. I’ve opened a short section at Talk:Ryan Holiday#Request to restore constructive edits and build consensus outlining why those edits improve compliance with WP:MOS, WP:NPOV, and WP:PRESERVE.

Would you mind taking a look and sharing your view? Even a brief comment on whether selective tweaks (rather than a blanket revert) would be the better BRD “discuss” step would help move things forward.

Thanks for your time—and for all the copy-patrol work you do. ~ @IndyNotes IndyNotes (talk) 18:23, 29 April 2025 (UTC)

Very wide rangeblock

Hi Drmies,

2600:1000:0:0:0:0:0:0/21 is the range for literally all of Verizon Wireless's network in the US. You can see that the disruption was mostly confined to 2600:1017:B800:0:0:0:0:0/40. Thanks, CutlassCiera 20:13, 1 May 2025 (UTC)

 • That's what I meant to block--don't know what happened. I'm on it. Drmies (talk) 21:45, 1 May 2025 (UTC)
 • User:zzuuzz, please help me out here: when I click on the log I can't even change the block I inadvertently made. I'm hoping you have the magic power to change it to--well whatever you see fit. My range calculator (look at User:Drmies/IP range) said /40 and that is what I was trying to do. Thanks! Drmies (talk) 21:46, 1 May 2025 (UTC)
 • I've unblocked the /21, not sure what you tried :) Guessing here - don't look at the range contribs - either look at an individual IP in the range, or look at your blocking log, and look for the unblock link. -- zzuuzz (talk) 21:51, 1 May 2025 (UTC)
 • Thanks Zzuuzz--well I tried blocking the /40, just copied the range from that calculator, but when I click on the log/contributions for that range it says "Unable to show results...", so I couldn't even unblock. So thank you. Hey, I see what you're doing in Cairo, and I appreciate it. I thought, for a short while, we were done with that one. Has it been a year? Drmies (talk) 21:54, 1 May 2025 (UTC)
 • You should be able to get to the /40, just not anything larger than /32, so again I dunno. I should FYI ping Joyous!, since we've unsettled the previous partial block. I'm not a fan of /21 blocks, and especially with the reason of 'vandalism-only account', so I'm gonna pass on that. I'm also gonna pass on the /40. Oh and here's a tip, use rangevandal: 2600:1017:B800::/40 and 2600:1000::/21. -- zzuuzz (talk) 22:08, 1 May 2025 (UTC)
 • Oh, I was never going to block /21 (and I still don't understand how that happened--if I can't even see their contributions, how could I have blocked them?), and I guess I can leave /40 alone for now--perhaps the two /64 blocks are good enough. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 22:25, 1 May 2025 (UTC)
 • :I've restored the partial blocks on the /21 range, but after reading over this conversation again, I'm going to unblock the /21 and we'll just have to selectively respond to whatever shows up again. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 22:40, 1 May 2025 (UTC)

Russian Gagarin vandal

Note that this isn't MAB, this is a Russian user who has a fixation on every linked page to Yuri Gagarin. Not sure what the underlying motive is, but this explains their targeted articles. CutlassCiera 13:19, 2 May 2025 (UTC)

 • Are you sure? Drmies (talk) 13:22, 2 May 2025 (UTC)
 • Yeah. You can tell because the statements originally from MAB are copy-and-pasted from their original source, as the last couple IPs left the signature of the MAB IP that left it in. The IPs that aren't proxies are all geolocating to Russia, and it wouldn't make sense for MAB to spam "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" on random Soviet cosmonauts, which was how the vandalism originally started. I think this is just a case of someone having a large number of proxies at their disposal and trying to cause as much havoc (trying to waste admins' time with revdels) as possible. CutlassCiera 13:25, 2 May 2025 (UTC)
 • User:Cutlass, it seems you know more about technical aspects than me, and you've been chasing this jerk around for a few days, I think. Would you mind posting something on WP:AN, with your suspicions and maybe some advice for editors and admins? And I am interested in others looking at the matter, and their opinion on whether this is MAB or not. We need a filter manager too; I emailed the list but haven't heard back. Thanks so much, Drmies (talk) 16:18, 2 May 2025 (UTC)
 • Done, and thanks for your efforts in combating this! CutlassCiera 19:29, 2 May 2025 (UTC)

Yara Naoum's Court Case

You have deleted Yara Naoum's trial. I added this not only to explain her character, but also to show the fault lines in Egyptian society, between rich and poor and modern and conservative. It is also part of the original Arabic article. If she wanted to sue Wikipedia, she would probably do so on the basis of the Arabic version. Umardafaqussamk (talk) 05:00, 3 May 2025 (UTC)

 • What's on the Egyptian wiki is irrelevant. If you think that "someone hasn't sued us yet so we're okay" is an argument for keeping content in, you got another thing coming. Drmies (talk) 12:35, 3 May 2025 (UTC)
