AAlertBot: Updating article alerts failure
AAlertBot's task "Updating article alerts" failed to run per the configuration specified at Wikipedia:Bot activity monitor/Configurations. Detected only 0 edits in the last 1 day, whereas at least 10 were expected. If/when the issue is fixed, please change the section title (e.g. append " - Fixed") or remove this section completely. When that is done, this notice will be reposted if the bot task is still broken or is re-broken. If your bot is behaving as expected, then you may want to modify the task configuration instead. Or to unsubscribe from bot failure notifications, remove the {{para|notify}} parameter from the {{tlx|/task|nolink=y}} template. Thanks! – SDZeroBot (talk) 07:21, 5 May 2025 (UTC)
[[Draft:James J. Brady (physicist)]]
I'd appreciate your opinion/help in evaluating whether to address claims James J. Brady made in multiple interviews (primary sources) after he retired, that he was "the first person in the United States to split an atom and the first in the world to do so with a cyclotron". (See [https://www.newspapers.com/article/corvallis-gazette-times-bradys-research/171925936/ Brady's research has had a far-reaching impact], [https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-capital-journal-solar-is-the-way-t/171921202/ Soalr is the way to go], and [https://www.newspapers.com/article/corvallis-gazette-times-james-j-brady/171923631/ his obituary].
I asked a physicist for an opinion, and he said Brady must have felt the need to burnish his legacy, but where was his publication?!
Brady did leave an extended description of his version of events Physics Today "Letters" March 1983 [https://pubs.aip.org/physicstoday/article-abstract/36/3/11/434375/More-unpublished-physics p.11],[https://pubs.aip.org/physicstoday/article-abstract/36/3/13/434446/More-on-classification-scheme p.13], which I quoted from in the draft. But is the quote box with the 1932 acknowledgement published contemporaneously by Lawrence, Livingston, and White enough to dispel Brady's later claims in the popular press?
Or is this a case where discretion is the better part of valor, and Brady's claims should just be ignored in his WP bio? — Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 23:34, 16 May 2025 (UTC)
Articles for Creation backlog drive
Hello Headbomb:
WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive in June!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than 1 month of outstanding reviews from the current 3+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 June 2025 through 30 June 2025.
You may find :Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.
Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.
There is a backlog of over {{Rounddown|{{formatnum:3,205|R}}|-2}} pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:25, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
